We’ve been staying at our current 2-bedroom apartment here in San Jose, CA for more than 2 years now. My husband and I are actually living with his mom and younger brother so the 2-bedroom apartment setup isn’t really what I’d call ideal. His mom and brother share one room, and my hubby and I and our baby stay in the master’s bedroom. So we decided to look for a 3-bedroom apartment in the North San Jose area where we currently are.
We saw a couple of places for rent/lease in the area. But most of the 3-bedroom apartments we saw are quite expensive, and the cheapest one was $2700! Luckily, last Tuesday, my hubby chanced upon a posting on Craigslist for a 3-bedroom apartment just across the street from our place and it was only $2,050!
So we applied and were approved! Yay! I believe it was a favor from God because my husband has bad credit but the landlady was kind enough to consider my mom-in-law’s credit. She was even kind enough to allow us to move in even though all we could give her yesterday was the $2,500 1-month deposit and cleaning fees! She agreed to let us pay the remaining balance of $2,050 by mid-Feb because it was a really quick decision on our part to just move, partly because she wanted us to move in as soon as possible.
Right now, I’m packing all of our stuff while hubby is at work. He’ll be home early though since we need to move already. I must admit that my task of packing everything while taking care of a baby boy is a challenge, not to mention having to write some blog posts! LOL! I probably won’t be online much today and tomorrow because of this but I just wanted to share this unexpected blessing to you. Have a great weekend everyone!

So excited for you!
Have a great weekend!
Mandy
Thanks Mandy! I’m really excited about this!
Yay! I am happy for you guys!
Thank you, Alicia!
I totally understand the frustration with finding affordable housing in San Jose. My husband and I are from the bay area (San Jose for him) and we had to move. We are now up in the Sac area where things are a little more affordable. Anyways I just wanted to say good luck on the move.
Hi Kristi! I’ve only been to Sacramento once for a conference. That’s true, we really had to search real hard for an apartment that’s in an area we like and is within our budget.
Good luck with the move and Congrats on the new place! Moving is never fun but it sounds like this will benefit everyone! God always gives us what we need, and most of the time, when we’re not even looking for it.
Amen to that, Valerie! God’s been miraculously providing for our every need since the time hubby and I got married! Imagine getting married in a hotel with full amenities, they even gave us 2 of their best suites and we only spent like $4,000 total!
That’s great! It’s always nice to have more space! Congrats!
April
Thanks, April! That’s true! Can’t get enough storage space!
I cringe when I see prices like that
holy crud
hope you have a smooth move and every thing goes according to plan
I hope it works for all parties involved
myself, I hated moving and this house we bought was our last move, no matter what LOL
luckily enough we’ve been here for 10+yrs and nothing has ever come up to force us to regret our decision
my prayers go out to your and yours for a good future
Wow! 10 years in one place is great! I guess that’s really how it is here in San Jose, expensive rent! Thanks for the prayers!
Oh wow. $2,050? and that is cheap!?! LOL We pay $450 a month for our house payment and we live in a four bedroom, two story house with a two car garage, basement, attic, and huge fenced back yard, but then again, location location location right? We live in a small town in Iowa so you sacrifice fun things to do for cheap rent! LOL
Wow!!! $450 for all that?!!! We would be the luckiest people ever if we found something like that here in San Jose!
Wow! I can’t believe how high the rent is where you are. That’s insane!
Good Luck in the new place!
LOL Melissa! It’s crazy right? They say housing here in the Bay Area (or is it the whole of California? not sure.) is really expensive!
good for you…I hope you enjoy your new place.
Thanks, Tami!
